State Convention is next!

Last night Robert and I went to the County Convention as County Precinct Delegates and it was more fun that we could have imagined. They could only accept 24 people to move on to the State Convention and both Robert and I were voted on and accepted. This will be so much fun because many of the 24 people include Wenke, Nofs, numerous County Commissioners, the Sheriff of Calhoun County and many more.

They will have a party for everyone that was elected in the evening and in the morning we will ALL go out onto the floor and make our opinions known. We will also meet with Tim Walberg, DeVos, Bouchard and others. What a blast! I knew Robert would definately be selected to go to the State Convention but it was a surprise for me to also be voted as going on.

We were recently told that the Washington, D.C. based newspaper is finished with the article regarding Robert. Hold on! We were thrilled to hear that it will be the FRONT PAGE story with photos as well. They asked Walberg for a photo and also asked us for a photo of Robert. We are told on average a minimum of 13,000 people will see/read this article. The newspaper also is circulated in your local libraries and it also goes out to EVERY state and federal elected offical across the entire U.S. Wow! I am so proud of Robert especially with all of the continued drama he has to deal with on a daily basis. Stay tuned for more information on the newspaper article and also we will soon have the specifics on Robert's radio talk show appearance. Best, Angela Keene-Kennedy, R.N. From our Guestbook...AMEN!

8-6-2006 Julie Gates, LPN Battle Creek, MI, US Angela,I truly enjoyed talking to you at work tonight, and I hope we can join together in working for better rights for children and their fathers, as well as many other issues we discussed. I thank God he gave me the common sense and empathy to realize that, no matter WHAT happened between my daughter's father and I, she was not a "pawn" in some stupid game to be used-her Father was just as much a part of her life as I was...even when it hurt! Best of luck to you both and may God be with you! You are doing a wonderful thing here! Julie AKA Jewels Now remeber, you have to read MY website with an open mind!!! :)

County Convention!

Thank you everyone once again for all of your help and well wishes! Robert and I are both going to the County Convention this week and Robert will be going on even further (I am sure) to the State Convention. The Battle Creek Enquirer will be printing the results in the paper tomorrow for the Precinct Delegates. We look forward to mixing it up with our elected leaders! This has all been so much fun and Robert and I work so well together plus he makes me laugh and smile on a daily basis. He is a keeper for sure! We also found out that a Washington, D.C. based paper will be doing a story on Robert very soon and a nationally syndicated radio talk show host has asked Robert to appear live on his show! Both are exciting and we will keep you posted. We have also found out that approximately 21 people within our organization were elected; ranging from from Precinct Delegate all the way to State Rep. Since I became involved in this organization I have met so many incredible people and I am very thankful for having all of this in my life. Keep moving forward towards the rally! We expect well over 1,000 people to attend which is simply astonishing. Best, Angela Keene-Kennedy, R.N. V-I-C-T-O-R-Y YES!

What an incredible morning to wake up to such news! Below is one of our guestbook entries:

"5-26-2006Tim Walberg http://www.walbergforcongress.com/Tipton, MI, USRobert and Angela,Received your card asking for my support of HB5267. As a former State Representative, and now a conservative candidate for Congress in MI-7 I am pleased to support this legislation that has the best interests of the kids in mind...and in fact will ultimately be best for the parents. You can add my name to the list of supporters. All the best.Tim Walberg; Candidate for Congress MI-7"

In full force some of our organization's members, along with Dads and Moms of MI and the Family Rights Coalition of MI got out the vote for Tim Walberg! Walberg won against his INCUMBENT candidate Schwarz which is not an easy task. Schwarz campaign spent roughly $1.2 million and Walberg $344,000 which further proves that nothing is more powerful than grassroots activity along with multiple group networking! Robert Pedersen is also going to the county and state conventions and received an out of the ordinary large number of votes for a such a small political position that is oftentimes overlooked on the ballot. This showed strength in his message. Myself and some volunteers went door-to-door within Precinct 2 for Robert Pedersen, Walberg and Wenke. It was fun!

Butler lost which was a big surprise but both Bouchard and Butler support Michigan House Bill 5267 which is a powerful sign of strength. We have not updated our scorecard in some time but more and more Reps support this bill and we are confident it will pass. Not just men are affected by what happens here in Michigan; women, grandparents, aunts and uncles know that what happens to children after a divorce is wrong. If both parents are fit, as defined by the courts - not a vindictive, mean spirited ex; then the child should not be denied the love of a parent. We are expecting WELL OVER 1,000+ people will attend the rally in Sept for parental and children rights. Our collective organizations are now looking very closely at how we can make a similar impact in November, especially in Calhoun County. I am so very proud of my soon to be husband who remains happy and positive, despite numerous challenges that he is currently facing. Thank you everyone and thank you again for making this organization a success! Best, Angela Keene-Kennedy, R.N. (This is a personal post and the views contained within it do not necessarily pertain to our entire organization's viewpoints.)

Thank you everyone!

I have already gotten several calls this morning that some of you have voted for me and I wanted to thank you so much for this. There is an organized write-in campaign for another candidate but I am sure that I will win this one and be sent to the county and state conventions. Thank you again! Special thanks to Wenke, Walberg, Fulton and Butler I wish all four of you the best for today's turnout. Take care, Robert Pedersen

Let's make Michigan family friendly for both parents and children. For the dangers of sole physical custody please visit Children's Rights Council - Dangers of Sole Custody For the benefits of Joint Physical Custody please visit Benefits of Joint Physical Custody

A recent American Psychological Association published study has demonstrated that having both parents sharing in the raising of their children gives these children a better chance at life. Here is the website link for your perusal: APA STUDY. This "study" published in 2002 ( by Robert Bauserman, PhD.) titled "Child Adjustment in Joint Custody versus Sole Custody Arrangements: A Meta-Analytic Review". Its actually a very objective summary of over ten studies done over the last ten years . The Bauserman article in fact, implicitly , refers to those parents who see their children less than 25% as sole custody arrangements. The article , in general, does not have good things to say about sole custody arrangements. Conflict was factored into the summary and formed part of the studies. Bauserman acknowledges that not all studies tested the effect of conflict but some studies showed that if a joint custodial schedule were implemented early in the process, conflict was dramatically reduced. Other studies showed that it was the sole custody arrangements which reported the highest conflict. (p.97-99) Family and children experts tell us that its not about the "perfect parent" ...its about a healthy association with both parents! On pages 97-98 of the Bauserman study it says:"Based on these results, children in joint custody are better adjusted across multiple types of measures, than children in sole (primarily maternal ) custody...This finding is consistent with the hypothesis that joint custody can be beneficial to children in a wide range of family, emotional, behavioral and academic domains."The American Psychological Association (APA) supports joint custody. No objections to shared parenting holds up against the APA's review of all joint custody studies and reports. Joint Physical "Custody" arrangements are recommended for the children by the latest, most authoritative APA summary in their recent exhaustive review of all the relevant studies. The APA Summary found that joint "custody" arrangements result in "increased father contact and involvement with children," reduced parental conflict, and reduced litigation and costs.
